Spring Concert Jazzes it up at South Portland Auditorium

Tuesday the 23^rd South Portland was treated to a wonderful instrumental music program at the South Portland Auditorium. The show opened with the Memorial Middle School Jazz Band performing “My Foolish Heart”. Soloists Tom Biskup, Joe Moreshead, Alex Hardy and Meaghan McKinnon were outstanding!

Continuing with the Jazz theme next to appear were the South Portland High School Jazz Combo and Jazz Ensemble. The Combo played “Song For My Father” and “Work Song”. The Ensemble performed “Quasi-Modal” and “Goodbye Yesterday”. The soloists were Dan Robert, Adam Kundishora, Dillon Houser, Jeff Swoboda, Geoff Smith, Greg Baschkopf and Rocco Marzlli.

The audience was treated to four different Chamber Ensembles, Percussion, Flute, Brass and Freshman Flute. These students have been working in duets, trios or quartets studying different styles and approaches to playing their instruments.

 The evening closed with the Concert Band performing three very moving pieces; “Flight of the Pegasus”, “Shenandoah” and “Deerpath Dances”.
