Once again we hear the future of music in South Portland

5/12/2004 - The South Portland Auditorium was filled to capacity with family and friends to listen to the Memorial / Mahoney 7th and 8th Grade Bands and Choruses. It was awe inspiring to see such support. The chorus under direction of Abby Distasio performed 3 wonderful pieces.

The Concert Bands took the stage under the direction of Sandy Barry, Jean Quinn and Erin Oullette. They performed marching pieces and music from Pop Culture like "The Pirates of the Caribbean" and "Harry Potter". The music was beautifully performed and a joy to hear. The 8th grade students will surely be missed by the directors as they move on to High School..

The evening closed with the combined bands of Mahoney and Memorial performing a medley comprised of the Armed Services' Anthems. Veterans in the audience stood and were applauded as their Anthem was played. It was a very moving experience.
