Music Boosters Need Your Help

The South Portland Music Boosters contributes $75,000 a year to the music programs in grades 5-12. This money pays for instruments, transportation, uniforms, repairs, etc. The Boosters are committed to making the music programs in the South Portland School District the finest in the state of Maine .

The Boosters run Bingo every Saturday night to make the bulk share of this money. It takes 8 volunteers a Saturday to make Bingo run smoothly. Our current pool of Bingo volunteers has been reduced from 35 to 18 due to graduating seniors and attrition. This level of volunteers means that some are working 2 or 3 times a month.

There are currently approximately 600 students participating in music programs. We need your help to continue supporting these students.

Here are some of the reasons to volunteer your time and help us support your children ---

       1.   Each volunteer who works bingo brings in over $250.00 a night for the Boosters.

2.   Music education has been shown to increase math skills, self-esteem, organizational skills, SAT scores.

3.   You demonstrate work ethic and community service to your children.

4.     We work as team. If you have a question there are at least 7 other volunteers to help.

5.     Bingo is a fun social activity. You will meet other parents, teachers and patrons from all over the state who help support our students.

Please contact Theresa and Bob Libby for more information or to volunteer your time.

Thank you,

Bob Libby
