Congratulations to the members of the South Portland High School Jazz Ensemble and Jazz Combo for their award winning performances at the Maine State Jazz Festival in Millinocket on March 15. The Jazz Combo, led by Blake Hawley - winner of an outstanding musicianship award, placed third in it's division. The Jazz Ensemble, led by outstanding musicianship award winners Blake Hawley and Albie Gingrich, scored 94.2 in the night finals, edging out Nokomis, Cony and Westbrook for 1st place.
This is the ninth time in 14 years SPHS has won this event.
